Mubarak's Henchmen Attack CNN's Anderson Cooper

Wednesday, 02 February 2011 10:37 AM EST

Goons supporting Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak attacked CNN reporter Anderson Cooper, who was punched in the head 10 times, although nobody was injured seriously, according to CNN.

The incident took place today as renewed violence erupted between supporters of Mubarak, who announced Tuesday that he will not seek re-election, and protesters who want Mubarak to surrender his presidency now instead of waiting until September. The arrival of Mubarak strongmen to challenge the anti-government protesters appeared to be orchestrated from Mubarak’s camp.

Both sides hurled rocks and chunks of cement at each other, and several were injured.

Cooper described the attack on him and his crew during a report on “American Morning,” when he said the crew had been trying to get to a neutral zone between the warring groups.

"We never got that far," he said. "We were set upon by pro-Mubarak supporters punching us in the head."
