New York Tabloids Poke Fun at the 'Cat' Al Sharpton

The New York tabloids are poking fun at the Rev. Al Sharpton's "I am a cat" comments with over-the-top covers.

It was learned Monday that Sharpton had worked as a mole in the Genovese crime family and passed information from the New York City mobsters to the FBI.

On Tuesday, Sharpton took issue with the covers of the New York Daily News and New York Post, which depicted the FBI informant as a "mob snitch."

"I was not and am not a rat, because I wasn't with the rats," Sharpton said, according to Business Insider. "I am a cat."

"Could you all use tomorrow's cover, the new [ones], because a lot of my younger members didn't know how fat I was," the New York Post quotes him as saying.

The Daily News superimposed Sharpton's face onto a cat on Wednesday's publication and the headline, "Rev. Al blasts FBI mole leaks: I'm no mob rat. I'm a rat catcher."

The New York Post's Wednesday cover included a "slim" Sharpton with the screaming headline "Big Pussy!" and the subheads, "'I'm not a rat, I'm a cat' and "Al all full of himself over mob takedown."

AlltheRightSnark.org depicted Sharpton as "The Rat in the Hat."
