Ahmed Mohamed, the 14-year-old arrested after taking a clock he said he had made to school in Texas, will be moving with his family to Qatar after receiving an offer of free education there, The Dallas Morning News reports.

The school was accused of Islamophobia when police were called, and President Barack Obama tweeted an invitation for the teen to bring his clock to the White House.

The teen attended Astronomy Night at the White House Monday night along with 300 other students from across the country, but did not bring his clock, and Obama made no mention of him during his comments at the event.

The White House visit capped off a whirlwind tour of the world from supporters in various Muslim countries.

Ahmed's supporters said the school acted with anti-Muslim bias in thinking the clock was a bomb, but others pointed out the wiring and large digital display inside a box resembling a suitcase was a purposeful attempt to spur fear, citing an activist background by his father Mohamed Elhassan Mohamed and a previous incident at the school by his older sister, Eyman Mohamed.

A tech video blogger showed that the clock wasn't an invention at all, but that Ahmed has simply taken the case off of a 1980s-era Radio Shack alarm clock and put it in the suitcase-looking apparatus.

Ahmed's sister said her brother will study at Doha Academy, and she and other siblings will search for schools there. The family made the decision to move to Qatar in the past 24 hours and expect to move next week, The Washington Post reported.
