Iran Sneering Over Navy Hostages

By    |   Monday, 01 February 2016 09:31 AM EST

Iran's supreme leader has awarded medals to navy commanders for capturing U.S. sailors who entered Iranian territorial waters last month, Iran's state media said on Sunday.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has said Iran should remain wary of its arch-enemy the United States even after a landmark accord over Tehran's nuclear program, awarded the Fath (Victory) medal to the head of the navy of the Revolutionary Guards and four commanders involved in the seizure of two U.S. Navy boats.

It’s difficult to comment on American foreign policy any longer.

We are so suicidal, so self-defeating, and so self-loathing in our actions towards Islamofascist terrorism — including Iran — that there’s little left to say.

The basic problem is simple: Obama likes Iran. Iran does not return that feeling.

Iran’s ruling mullahs still consider America an enemy, despite America’s handing Iran everything they wanted in a “peace” treaty which Obama forcibly imposed on the United States Congress.

Why does Obama like Iran? Because he does not like America.

Obama likes people who do not like America. Obama only likes America when it’s humble, self-effacing, and when it treats itself as morally equivalent to other nations that do not respect individual rights.

At the core, Obama is anti-liberty, anti-Western and therefore anti-American.

That’s why he wishes to “transform” America.

The question is: What do Americans think of America? Mercifully, Obama will soon leave office. Where do we go from there? If Obama leaves office unpopular, will Americans dislike him for the right reasons, or merely because it’s time to change the channel?

Imagine Ronald Reagan signing a peace treaty with Soviet Russia after they awarded medals to their soldiers for holding Americans hostage. Imagine, after World War II, signing peace treaties with Germany and Japan without unconditional surrender from those nations.

It would have been inconceivable. Yet that’s precisely what America has done with Iran.

Iran continues — with remarkable consistency — to verbally and behaviorally treat America as a mortal enemy. The incident with the Navy sailors is clear proof of that.

Yet America persists in treating Iran as a friend, and thanking Iran for not injuring or killing our sailors. Disgusting.

Obama and his supporters want us to treat Iran with humility and self-sacrifice.

They think this is noble, and even practical. It’s that sneering, condescending attitude implicit in leftist progressivism at its worst.

However, these same Obama-supporting leftists want separation of church and state. Iran is the most blatant example of church/state integration on the planet today. What gives?

These same leftists want us to show cultural sensitivity to Muslims, to treat the choice of Islam as a religion as equivalent to someone’s race (not a choice). Yet Iran is a government, not a religion or a race. Why do we let Iran get away with things we’d never let our own government do to its citizens?

That sorry affair of American Navy hostages would have seriously damaged the reputation of any other American president as recently as even ten years ago. Today, it’s yesterday’s news, barely registering. What has happened to our country?

It’s time to face the fact that Obama’s incredibly bad foreign and defense policies are a symptom, not a cause. He repeatedly foists these awful things upon us because we allow him to do so without consequence.

The travesty that this man was elected twice, and few seek to hold him accountable for his negligence towards our military and our nation’s reputation, is on America. Shame on those who still refuse to pay attention.

Obama dislikes America. That’s old news.

But what about Americans? Do Americans still love America?

That’s the question upon which our now-tenuous survival depends.
