As long as the COVID-19 pandemic has been in the headlines, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., has been fighting against the authoritarian mandates that have resulted from government bureaucracies. Whether it has been questioning NIH director and media pariah Anthony Fauci or rallying behind movements that protest against policies that have hurt small businesses and even children, Paul has been as consistent as any elected official in the country when it has come to being correct on these issues.

Paul has continued to be proven right as well. The CDC eventually came around to agreeing with him about cloth masks offering the least protection against infection and that the NIH helped fund practices that potentially led to the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Back in 2021, Paul even introduced the Travel Mask Mandate Repeal Act of 2021, which would have prohibited nanny state mandates across the country that required masks on those who wanted to travel on public transportation. For some reason, these policies continue to be in place throughout the country despite decreased cases and most mandates being effectively removed from the populace.

It seems that Paul has had enough of the static nature of the federal government to remove these requirements. He stated, "The federal government forcing the American people to continue to wear masks even though we've already reached herd immunity is ridiculous and needs to end immediately."

Luckily, Paul is stepping up to the plate where many Republicans and Democrats would not by reintroducing his legislation for the 2022 agenda once the Senate reconvenes. Paul said in a press release, "The entire world is learning to live with COVID, the federal government still uses fear-mongering to stubbornly perpetuate its mandates, rather than giving clear-eyed, rational advice on how to protect yourself from illness best. That is why I am forcing a vote to repeal travel mask mandates on public transportation and put a stop to this anti-science."

By forcing the Senate's hand, Paul advocates what he has always been preaching about in separating fact from fiction and propaganda from science.

As the country continues to recover from the over two years of policies caused by fear of the COVID epidemic, Paul has encouraged the belief that citizens should have their livelihoods back and be in complete control instead of the federal government. The government is supposed to protect its citizens from harm, but not to the point where they simply allow them to live freely instead of watching their right to.

There is an enormous difference between limiting citizens from life and protecting citizens from danger, and governments across the country have now crossed that line to a near irrecoverable point.

Paul simply is using common sense, as he always has, in advocating against the idea that the government has got to control life from every standpoint, and a huge step in changing the idea that to travel, we need a piece of cloth or covering over our mouths to travel to see family or conduct business. It is far time for us to travel without continued authoritarian mandates of our government's own doing.
