1. Protesters Smash Schwarzenegger Memorabilia

Folks in California are hopping mad.

Local KFI talk-show hosts "John and Ken" recently gathered together a crowd of 15,000 in Fullerton, Calif., and destroyed DVDs, VHS tapes, and memorabilia of California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

As the items were smashed the crowd chanted the words, “Heads on a stick.”

Periodically the radio personalities played recorded audio of Arnold promising not to raise taxes, which elicited large boos from the crowd.

The event was dubbed, “The Revolt, Recall, Repeal Rally.”

It was spurred on by the tens of billions in tax increases stuck to the people by the Governernator and a bunch of state legislators who had promised no new tax increases.

A group plans a recall attempt against select legislators and the Schwarzenegger.

Protests and tea parties are busting out all over.

D.C. pols would be wise to take note.

2. Benicio Del Toro Calls Hugo Chavez ‘Nice’

Add one more Hollywood celeb to the ranks of those who are singing the praises of Venezuelan despot Hugo Chavez.

Benicio Del Toro recently joined the army of useful idiots that includes Sean Penn, Kevin Spacey, and Danny Glover who are assisting Chavez as he moves forward in enslaving the Venezuelan people.

Del Toro was in the South American country to promote his worthless four-hour “Che” Guevara movie but seized the opportunity to pay homage to Chavez with left coast air kisses.

The Oscar winner described Chavez, who is in the process of dismantling the media in his own country, as “nice.” He added that he “had a good time with Hugo.”

Meanwhile, Chavez is so enthused about the Obama administration’s leftward lurch, he’s become a cheerleader for the slouch toward socialism.

“I recommend to Obama — they're criticizing him because they say he's moving towards socialism — come Obama, ally with us on the path to socialism, it's the only road,” the tyrant babbled on Venezuelan state television, according to Bloomberg.

“Imagine a socialist revolution in the U.S. Nothing is impossible,” he piped.

From one comrade to another.

3. Madonna, Kanye, Demi on PETA's Worst-Dressed Celebs List

Animal rights organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) continues its campaign against celebrities who do not follow compassion fashion rules.

Now the group has come up with a new list of Worst Dressed Celebrities, i.e., those who refuse to get rid of their furs.

The compiled list was based on the votes of animal activists via PETA's Web site.

Madonna barely beat out the Olsen twins and Maggie Gyllenhaal to make it to the No. 1 spot on PETA’s pariah list.

PETA’s Web site was particularly snarky, opining, “When you see Madonna in fur, you realize why nobody has copied her style since 1984. We know that she's on the prowl for a young cub, but someone needs to tell Madge that wearing fur doesn't make you a cougar.”

Kanye West and Elizabeth Hurley also made the top five, closely followed by Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, Mary J. Blige, and Kate Moss.

4. Mr. Pitt Goes to Washington

In a recent article titled “Celebs in non-stop parade for Obamas,” the London Sunday Times put the spotlight on the ballooning bi-coastal bonding that’s taking place.

One of the points made by the piece was that although Obama doesn’t want to be seen with Hollywood stars at a time when people are suffering such dire economic turmoil, the celebs just keep on coming, the Jonas Brothers, Stevie Wonder, George Clooney and Brad Pitt, to name a few.

Pitt recently set up a meeting with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to chat about his charity work in New Orleans, where he helps the homeless and the environment at the same time.

The thought of a face-to-face with Pitt sent Pelosi bustling for emergency Botox.

Pitt left his Malibu mansion and flew to D.C. in his private jet to meet with Her Majesty, who also globetrots anti-environmentally in her taxpayer-funded  Air Force 3.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid apparently cleared his schedule to pal around with Pitt, too.

Pitt and Obama had a secret rendezvous earlier in the day.

Nice to know that when the toxic asset issue is unaddressed, the stock market is in a death spiral, and North Korea and Iran are messing around with nukes, our leaders can still find the time to schmooze with the stars.

5. NBC’s TV Series ‘Kings’ Rules

Imagine a book filled with the dramatic themes of betrayal, madness, infidelity, and corruption. Such a tome would make for a great Hollywood film or TV adaptation.

And it has. The Book of Samuel from the Old Testament is the source material for NBC’s new television series, "Kings," and it answers the question: What if the biblical story of David and Goliath took place in the 21st century?

The setting of the series is an alternative world in a modern nation called Gilboa, and the head of state is a power-wielding king.

Tailored suits are worn instead of robes and sandals. On the battlefield, modern weapons take the place of swords and spears. Cars are the preferred mode of transportation rather than horses, and laptop computers trump quills and parchment.

When a young solder, who is a small-town auto mechanic named David Shepherd (played by Chris Egan of “Eragon”) saves the life of the King’s son Jack (played by Sebastian Stan), he becomes a national hero.

Ian McShane, who is best known for the critic fave “Deadwood,” plays the title role of King Silas Benjamin, the Saul character of the alternative universe. (After a quick review of the biblical Book of Samuel, McShane called it “a great read.”)

The sci-fi feel of the series comes courtesy of executive producers Michael Green, (“Heroes”) Erwin Stoff (“Heroes,” ”I Am Legend”) and Francis Lawrence (“Heroes,” “I Am Legend”). Lawrence also directed the pilot.

King Silas summons David to the capital to keep a close eye on him and exploit his popularity. The soldier is smitten with king's beautiful daughter Michelle (Allison Miller).

Queen Rose (Susanna Thompson) works to manipulate the media and keep David and Michelle apart.

The prophet has been transformed into a minister, the Rev. Samuels (Eamonn Walker), who conveys messages from the creator.

It is heartening to see the story of Israel's most famous king retold in such an engaging and compelling way.

The towering city skyline is familiar yet surreal. The acting, directing, and most of all, the writing, are feature film quality.

The Sunday evening time slot is sure to draw families, but there are a couple of things parents need to know.

As would be expected, the script takes writer’s license in modifying the Scriptures to fit into a modern parallel world. There’s a reference to healthcare in the kingdom and an implication as to the sexual orientation of the Jonathan character, Jack. And the subject matter (as recorded in the Old Testament) contains mature themes such as sexual references and violence.

"Kings" premieres March 15 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC
