Since we all like instant solutions to our problems, here’s one that’s timely and helpful.
After 30 years of being a doctor and spending 60 if not 100 hours a week taking care of people, I finally found the Instant Solution we so desperately search for.
Before I give you the solution, let me digress.
The conventional medical system that trained me did well by me. I know medicine and I know when someone is sick.
But it has also come up short. Conventional medicine teaches doctors how to find disease, no matter how well it may be hidden. The conventional doctor will test you, prod you, bleed you, radiate you, and if by chance nothing abnormal shows up, declare you healthy and send you off with an “it’s-all-in-your-mind” pat on the back and a recommendation to “come back in six months so we can see if we can find something wrong then.”
Because this approach doesn’t sit well with a lot people, many physicians and patients have turned to alternative medicine and its enormous resource of therapies. Many are proven and gentle; most are in what conventional medicine would call a “trial phase.”
The one thing you can be sure of in alternative medicine is that the purveyor of care actually understands the importance of being kind and attentive. This is where alternative medicine abounds in talent but the average American still thinks conventional medicine is where modern medicine is at.
The alternative practitioner typically is not an expert on finding disease. That is a big problem for those of us in healthcare who have forsaken conventional medicine and made a permanent jump toward alternative medicine out of desperation to make the patient healthy and happy.
This is exactly where you need to be careful because YOU have to take care of yourself in both systems, otherwise you WILL be in trouble.
By bridging the gap between conventional (leaning more toward conventional) and alternative medicine, I have learned the most important lesson: the difference between when a patient needs an antibiotic versus when he/she needs a hug. This is a big thing. Most conventional doctors don’t know that. They are trained to look at you as a potential source of disease and it’s only a matter of time until the disease declares itself.
Thirty years of practicing medicine has taught me that most people are healthy most of the time, and that illness is only a small interruption in our lives.
Depending on how well you know yourself, care for yourself, and are aware of your own body’s function and messages it sends you, you will either spend most of your life healthy or going from doctor to doctor looking for something to treat or a condition to create to justify your symptoms and manufacture a handicap.
I am not being cavalier. I respect illness, not feeling well, being in pain, and having aches, colds, the flu, diarrhea and stomach cramps, foggy thinking, and arthritis. I just believe that the power to diminish their importance and treat them before they take over your life is entirely within your hands.
So here is the solution for everything: Adjust YOUR ATTITUDE!
Your approach to life, health, diet, exercise, hormone balance, and finding the right doctor to be your partner in health and illness is reflected in your attitude.
This is not meant to make you angry but rather help you realize how powerful you really are. Your attitude determines your outcome!
And I am here to help you mold and change that attitude to keep you healthy and happy forever.
Wouldn’t it be nice to die at 99 healthy, happy, and with a great sense of accomplishment and a smile on your lips?
