In remarks reminiscent of the Rev. Jeremiah Wrights’ “America’s chickens are coming home to roost” post 9/11 sermon, President Obama — fresh from a hush-hush White House meeting with American Muslims — went before the National Prayer Breakfast and attempted to show moral equivalency between Islamic terrorists and those who committed atrocities centuries ago in the name of Jesus Christ, including supporters of slavery and “Jim Crowism.”
He might just as well have told them that “Christian chickens have come home to roost.”
In 1994, President Bill Clinton refused to call the genocide in Rwanda “genocide” and did not intervene. He later said he made a mistake.
Today, Obama refuses to call ISIS and its cohorts in terrorism “Islamic terrorists.” Will he ever regret or admit he made a mistake? Don’t bet on it!
In Rwanda, nearly 1 million were slaughtered. In the Mideast, ISIS is committing many atrocious barbaric acts. According to a Report by the U.N. Committee on the Rights of the Child, there have been mass executions of boys, beheadings, rapes, crucifixions, sexual exploitation of girls and burying children alive.
And then we have Boko Haram, which is kidnapping girls and killing Christians in shopping malls and villages in Nigeria. Remember those “#bring back our girls” signs by celebrities including the first lady?
The group's horrific actions have caused the Nigerian government to postpone elections. It and its neighbors Chad, Niger, Cameroon, and Benin are sending a force of nearly 9,000 against the terrorist group.
And where are the president and his administration?
Here we have a president of the United States whose family history includes an African-Muslim father and an Indonesian-Muslim stepfather.
One would think that he would do everything he could to rid the world of those who would hijack the religion of his father and stepfather and perpetrate crimes against humanity in its name.
No, instead he chose — at a “prayer” breakfast — to attack the history of Christianity and tell critics of Islamic terrorism to, in essence, “get off your high horse.”
While the King of Jordan (a Muslim) showed the world what real backbone is in the war against Islamic terrorism. The Obama administration shows the world it has no backbone.
Remember when George W. Bush stood on a fire truck amidst the ruins of the World Trade Center and said: “I can hear you, the rest of the world can hear you, and the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon.”
It was a powerful moment that made Americans proud and put our enemies on notice!
So what has this president said or done in the wake of worldwide Islamic terrorism, including the beheadings of Americans, to make us proud? Nothing!
No one likes war, but sometimes you have to fight or sit back and wait to be devoured. Things aren’t going to get better. They’re going to get far worse.
It’s better to fight and defeat these jihadists in the sands of the Middle East rather than in schools or malls in some town in mid-America, Times Square downtown Chicago, Hollywood or Miami. If and when the worst happens on our shores, will Obama still say it is media hype and alarmism?
Folklore has it that the Emperor Nero played the violin while Rome burned. Today, while Islamic terrorism spreads like a wildfire, our president plays his “strategic patience” violin to the tune of world bad guys: the Castro brothers in Cuba and the Ayatollahs in Iran.
So what’s at stake in Obama’s Rwanda? Much more than in Clinton’s.
Obama’s turn the other cheek appeasing missteps could mean deadly terrorist strikes in the United States, Iran getting nukes and Cuba getting the Guantanamo Bay prison.
What a sad legacy!
