We called for a “new Boston Tea Party.” We got hundreds, in all 50 states. American citizens by the tens of thousands formed grass-roots demonstrations in state capitals and cities all over the nation, angrily proclaiming President Obama and his administration that we will not stand for “taxation without representation” — that we will not sign our names to trillions of dollars of tax-sourced expenditures for things we don’t want and weren’t even consulted about.
Aware of the growing uprising, administration flacks tried to preempt any influence by publicly equating legitimate dissent and dissenters with “right-wing extremists” and even quasi-military subversive cliques. Can you spell anti-democracy?
Like many others, I not only called for the tea party but also sent scores of “tea party” letters to elected representatives (and the White House), on my personal stationery:
“Dear Mr. President/Senator/Congressman:
“I did not give you permission to sign my name to any of the bailouts or ‘stimulus package’ or appropriation bills — and certainly not a ten trillion dollar indebtedness!
“You’re my elected public servant, and the servant of all the citizens who sent you to Washington on our behalf. There are other solutions to our economic crises, ones that will directly help taxpayers, homeowners and ordinary citizens, including those who lose jobs in corporate bankruptcy or restructuring.
“We weren’t consulted about these huge deficits and paper promises and trillion-dollar debts — AND WE REJECT THEM!
Taxation without representation is tyranny! Have you heard that before? Well, we citizens of a democratic republic reject these draconian measures, and direct you to undo them on our behalf. We’re not wasting perfectly good tea this time; but the “tea parties” have begun all over this country, and you’d best get the message. We reject the tyranny of governmental servitude and the usurpation of our constitutional freedom and independence.
You now have lots of tea — but little time. And we have very little patience left.

Many others spoke up, and countless Americans actually assembled publicly to petition the government for a redress of grievances, just as referenced in the Bill of Rights.
It remains to be seen whether the articulate but sophomoric White House occupant will hear — or will ignore — the voices of the people he was elected to serve.
Meanwhile, on many fronts, citizen groups are organizing, mobilizing, and acting. Following is a list of several that are in the forefront, groups with real patriots leading them with 21st-century methods to achieve 18th-century goals.
Of course, this blessed Web site, Newsmax, is a blazing furnace of light, heat, and reliable information that is igniting and fueling the upsurge in resistance to a new administration run amok. But I’ve just learned about the Sam Adams Alliance, which Eric O’Keefe runs. The quote at the top of this column from this early patriot who is overshadowed by Franklin, Adams, Jefferson, and Monroe in today’s history books, but who is credited with almost single-handedly creating “a mind-set of freedom” in the American colonies.
How? By tireless labor and a hundred different tactics, using the technology of his day: the printing press. He used his brain and the press to develop opinion, lay out issues, and educate citizens. He launched a one-man media blitz to forge a belief in an independent and freedom-based America.
He declared and published the same principles most of us still cherish today: “Among the natural rights of the colonists are these: First, a right to life, secondly to liberty, and thirdly to property, together with the right to defend them in the best manner they can.”
And because Adams took control of the new media in ways the British didn’t, the political debate was waged on his terms; the powerful British government was forced into a defensive posture.
So the organization that carries his banner and name is using the Internet (http://www.samadamsalliance.org), with its limitless opportunities, to confront left-liberal mainstream media domination on this largely unregulated turf. Consider:

Next month, Ballotpedia will be alerting voters in California that a “yes” vote on Proposition 1A will raise taxes by $16 billion, though the official ballot title and summary doesn’t tell them that! Ballotpedia has had 8.5 million visitors, and it now hosts more than 22,000 articles about state level political issues.
SamSphere, at http://www.samsphere.org, and < Sunshine Review, at http://www.sunshinereview.org are two Web sites where citizens can converse and share strategies and activist plans, mobilizing and encouraging each other to stand up for our liberties, and to confront the congressional leaders who are consenting to taxation without representation.Sam Adams is cheering from heaven!! Many other activist organizations such as The American Conservative Union, http://www.conservative.org, are using the new Web media to mobilize campaigns to elect rational conservatives in our next elections — as well as effectively spreading facts about the $1.2 trillion fiscal insanity the Democrat congress has authorized in just 50 days, committing us to $24 billion a day, or about $1 Billion an hour, most of it borrowed.
Former Republican Sen. Rick Santorum has created America’s Foundation, http://www.americas-foundation.org, to coordinate the public with conservatives in Congress to stop Obama’s planned $1 billion for international abortion groups, $700 million in taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood and NARAL. This government funded murder must be stopped!
The Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow has been informing and mobilizing college students nationwide since 2001, confronting the many fallacies and distortions of Al Gore’s “global warming” crusade. The committee, at http://www.cfact.org. can quell the hysteria as it seeks to stop the administration’s runaway spending. If we really care about our country’s immediate future, we citizens need to support, fund and participate with these and many other leaders. Our Web sites can have the same power as Sam Adams’ printing press. They — and prayer — can reclaim our republic.
