The White House on Sunday condemned the knife attack in Paris that left one victim dead and at least four injured following a tweet by President Donald Trump saying "changes to our thought process on terror must be made."

"The United States strongly condemns yesterday’s terrorist attack in Paris. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families," read a statement released from the White House per The Hill.

"We stand in solidarity with the French people and their government against this vicious act of terrorism, and pledge any assistance needed. Acts like this only strengthen the resolve of the global coalition to defeat ISIS and drive it out of existence."

The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack on Saturday. Amaq news agency, the group's propaganda arm, released a statement describing the attacker as a "soldier of the Islamic State" and claimed the atrocity was in response to its calls to target countries bombing its territories in Syria and Iraq.
