Khamenei Says U.S. Plotting Against Iran

Sunday, 21 March 2010 07:28 PM EDT

TEHRAN - Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in his New Year address to the nation on Sunday accused the United States of "plotting" against the Islamic republic even as it offers talks.

"I once again announce that the governments who have an arrogant attitude and mentality who want to talk to the Iranian nation and its officials should know that this is not acceptable and is condemned by the Iranian nation and officials," Khamenei said in reference to the United States.

"You cannot talk about peace and friendship and at the same time plot and plan sedition and think that you can hurt the regime of the Islamic republic of Iran."
