Ukrainian soldiers raised their flag at a police station in a retaken Kherson region village, video released on Friday, Oct. 7, showed, as part of Ukraine's recent counter-offensive against Russian forces in the area.
The footage was said to show the flag raising taking place at the village of Velyka Oleksandrivka, about 115 km (71 miles) northeast of Kherson city.
Reuters was not able to independently verify when and where the video was filmed.
Ukrainian forces have advanced swiftly since bursting through the Russian front in the northeast at the start of September, and in the south this week.
Since Putin proclaimed the annexation a week ago, Ukraine has recaptured the main Russian bastion in northern Donetsk, and a swath of territory on the west bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a video address on Thursday, Oct. 6 that Kyiv's forces had recaptured more than 500 square kilometers (195 square miles) and dozens of settlements in Kherson in October.
