Syria has placed some of its advanced missiles on standby to strike Tel Aviv should Israel again hit targets inside Syria, the London Sunday Times reported.
 

Earlier this month, Israeli jets apparently struck sites near Damascus to prevent the transfer of advanced Fateh-110 missiles to the Hezbollah terror organization. 

While Jerusalem never officially took responsibility for the strikes, it has vowed to continue to prevent weapons transfers to Hezbollah and reportedly said it would topple the regime of President Bashar al-Assad if Syria retaliates for any further strikes.

Damascus has promised to retaliate if hit again.

According to the Sunday Times, satellite images show Syria has prepared the Tishreen, also known as the M-600 — which is believed to travel more than 125 miles and carry as much as a half-ton payload — aimed at Tel Aviv.

The Sunday Times quotes one of Israel’s top military experts, Uzi Rubin, as saying Syria has many Tishreen missiles in its arsenal and it could paralyze all commercial flights coming in and out of Israel if they are fired at the Jewish state.

The Times report is not the first recent one indicating the Assad regime has missiles targeting Israel, according to The Jerusalem Post.

On May 5, a Lebanese television station quoted a Syrian official as stating that Damascus aimed missile batteries at Israel, the Post said.

On Wednesday, the New York Times quoted a senior Israeli official warning that if Assad retaliates against Israel, or “tries to strike Israel through its terrorist proxies, he will risk forfeiting his regime, for Israel will retaliate.”
