Pope Francis has charted a new course for the Roman Catholic Church since assuming the papacy on March 13. Following the abdication of his predecessor Pope Benedict XVI, the Argentine Pontiff has recast the Church’s views on sexual morality, professed a more liberal stance toward other creeds, condemned the excesses of global capitalism, and initiated a series of financial reforms in the Holy See.
