Palestinian telecommunication company Jawwal said in a message on its Facebook page late on Friday that mobile phone service and internet in the Gaza Strip has been cut off due to heavy bombardment.
The outage came amid airstrikes as well as shelling from Israeli naval vessels on Northern Gaza that were reported to be non-stop. Al Jazeera reported Israeli airstrikes of "unprecedented" size in the Gaza Strip.
"We regret to announce a complete cessation of all communications and internet services with the Gaza strip in light of the ongoing aggression," Jawwal said. "The intense bombing in the last hour destroyed the last international routes linking Gaza to the outside world."
Israel is also taking artillery fire to the South and East of Tel Aviv. Israel's Iron Dome has been intercepting rockets.
