Mexico's president on Tuesday called for the ratification of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) "as soon as possible" and said he will ask U.S. House of Representatives' Speaker Nancy Pelosi for her support.
President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, speaking at his regular news conference, added that he hoped the U.S. election cycle would not delay or affect the ratification process.
The trade deal, which would replace the North American Free Trade Agreement, has yet to be ratified by U.S. lawmakers, although their Mexican counterparts have already done so.
