Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., told Newsmax Thursday that Americans have "a lot of questions" about the Biden administration's foreign policy after a Chinese spy balloon floated across the country last week.
"[Our foreign policy] is not clear to the American people or to our allies and to our enemies," Blackburn said during an appearance on Newsmax's "Wake Up America." "Our allies should know that they are our ally and they can count on us; our enemy should fear us. There are so many questions about what is happening with the axis of evil — Iran, North Korea, Russia, China.
"Right now, Iran has started manufacturing drones in Russia because they've given Russia 6,000 drones to use against Ukraine. You have North Korea sending rockets into Russia to help them fight Ukraine. You have the Chinese giving them navigation equipment to help them fight the Ukrainians. These are things that should cause people questions."
The Tennessee Republican added that the actions of America's enemies show that "we have an inept foreign policy" that is "not clearly defined."
"Our enemies and our allies aren't sure exactly where they're sitting, and they don't really know quite what to expect," she said.
According to The Epoch Times, a bipartisan congressional briefing on the Chinese spy balloon that flew over the U.S. last week was scheduled to take place at 8 a.m. Thursday. The briefing was listed as a top secret-sensitive compartmented information (TS-SCI) meeting, the Times reported, citing a message attributed to the House GOP conference.
TS-SCI information is highly classified and contains details on intelligence sources and methods.
While the message did not specify whether the briefing would include only House members or would include members of the Senate, Blackburn confirmed she would be briefed about the spy balloon on Thursday.
On Saturday, President Joe Biden said he ordered the Pentagon to shoot down the balloon on Wednesday after he was briefed about it, but the military opted to wait until the Chinese aircraft was over water to avoid damaging property or injuring people.
House Intelligence Committee Chair Mike Turner, R-Ohio, said the administration's reaction to the balloon shows a complete lack of urgency when it comes to threats from China, and remarked there was no attempt to notify Congress or the "Gang of Eight' leaders concerning the balloon.
The balloon entered U.S. airspace on Jan. 28 north of Alaska's Aleutian Islands before heading into Canadian airspace on Monday, according to senior defense officials. It then reentered U.S. airspace Tuesday in northern Idaho and floated above several sensitive areas in the continental United States, including nuclear silos in Montana, before it was finally shot down Saturday off the coast of South Carolina.
