The Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist group is far too "racist" to join up with the African terror group Boko Haram, former Pennsylvania Rep. Joe Sestak says,
according to the Washington Free Beacon.
"The ISIS group is very racist," noted Sestak, a Democrat and three-star Navy admiral who is pondering a 2016 Senate bid from Pennsylvania, said last week.
"They do not, and their statements have said, appreciate African-Americans — or Africans, excuse me," he asserted, adding: "The type of Islam that is practiced in Africa does not meet the tenets of fundamentalism that is practiced by ISIS."
His comments come as ISIS joins forces with Boko Haram, which has signed a pledge of allegiance with the Middle Eastern group,
CNN said of their new unification. ISIS has urged fighters around the world to migrate to Africa and take up the group's cause.
The CIA last week warned of the looming danger and strength in both groups joining forces, Fox News reported.
According to CIA Director John Brennan, ISIS forces alone had "snowballed" outside the borders of Syria and Iraq, now numbering about 20,000 members representing 90 countries, including the U.S., Fox News said.
"Left unchecked, the group would pose a serious danger not only to Syria and Iraq, but to the wider region and beyond, including the threat of attacks in the homelands of the United States and our partners," Brennan said in a speech to the Council on Foreign Relations in New York, Fox reported.
Even as Sestak, who lost a tight 2010 Senate bid, pushed back on the two terror groups unifying their interests, calling it "not meaningful at all," intelligence experts told the Free Beacon that the Nigerian-based terror group continues to amass great power and growing prestige in that region of the world.
A Global Terrorism Index said Boko Haram fighters number anywhere from 900 to 9,000, with figures difficult to pinpoint. The group is responsible for more than 3,500 civilian deaths since 2009.
