The family of masked Islamic State executioner "Jihadi John" has raised the ire of many across Great Britain after it was revealed that housing the asylum seekers have cost taxpayers there more than $600,000 in public welfare over 20 years, the U.K.'s Daily Mail reported.

The family of Mohammed Emwazi has been housed in affluent areas of London and have been described by at least one landlord as "tenants from hell," the paper said.

Noted the Daily Mail of the family who received asylum in 1996: "Incredibly, they are still believed to be pocketing 40,000 pounds a year in handouts despite there being no sign of them in Britain."

Neither of Emwazi's parents worked while in Britain and the Westminster City Council continues to pay rent on the family's apartment, even though the terrorist's father, Jassem Emwazi, has returned to his native Kuwait, the paper said.

"They are abusing our hospitality," Philip Hollobone, a member of Parliament, told the Daily Mail. "The rules are quite clear. If there has been any abuse of the system here, money should be paid back. Mohammed Emwazi’s offenses are worse than murder or terrorism. They are an assault on the British way of life."

Meanwhile, Jassem Emwazi says there is no proof that his son is Jihadi John, CNN reported, citing an interview he reportedly did with the Kuwaiti newspaper Al Qabas.

In a separate interview published by the U.K.'s The Guardian, Jassem Emwazi denied reports that the voice heard in ISIS terrorism videos was his son's. "Lies, lies, lies," he said.

The father, who is represented by an attorney, has been questioned in Kuwait, The Guardian added, noting that the lawyer has threatened lawsuits amid ongoing accusations against the family. A separate attorney has been appointed to defend the family members still living in Britain, his Kuwaiti counsel, Salem al-Hashash, said.
