Iran is positioned to send new missiles to Russia, according to The Washington Post.

The Post reports that Iran has agreed to send surface-to-surface missiles and offensive aerial drones to deploy against Ukraine's forces and cities.

One unnamed U.S. official told The Post that a recent intelligence assessment indicated that Iran is preparing the first shipment of two powerful short-range ballistic missiles to Russia — the Fateh-110 and Zolfaghar missiles, the latter of which can reach a target up to 435 miles away. The shipment is also expected to carry drones.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy earlier this week said Russia used a mixture of Shahed-series kamikaze-style drones from Iran and home-built missiles that struck a wave of Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure.

Zelenskyy added in a CNN report that Russia has ordered over 2,400 Shahed-136 drones from Iran.

Still, Iran denies supplying Russia with such weapons. Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian stated earlier that "the Islamic Republic of Iran has not and will not provide any weapon to be used in the war in Ukraine. We believe that the arming of each side of the crisis will prolong the war."
