Senegalair Jet Collided with Boeing before Crash

Thursday, 10 September 2015 01:59 PM EDT

PARIS (AP) — French accident investigators say a Senegalair jet that crashed into the Atlantic, killing all seven people on board, had a midair collision with a Boeing 737 before the accident.

France's BEA aviation agency said Thursday the Senegalair aircraft, a Hawker-Siddeley HS 125, collided Sunday with a Boeing 737-800 operated by CEIBA Intercontinental Airlines. The Boeing landed safely with little damage in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.

Senegalese authorities have requested French investigators' help in determining the cause of the crash. French investigators will travel Friday to Dakar.

The Senegalair jet was en route from Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, to Dakar, Senegal, when it collided with the CEIBA and crashed into the sea. On board was a sick French woman being evacuated from Burkina Faso, a doctor, two nurses and three crew.
