MOSCOW (AP) — The former owner of a Russian candy factory in Moscow who killed a security guard has been ordered to remain in jail pending an investigation.

Investigators said Ilya Averyanov argued with the factory's new owner and then took out a hunting rifle and opened fire, killing the guard and wounding three other people Wednesday.

Averyanov called a radio station before he was arrested and said he was defending himself against a "gang" that had colluded with Moscow prosecutors to seize his property. A bankruptcy case for the Menshevik factory is due to be heard in Moscow in January, according to court filings.

Averyanov told the court he had no intention of killing anyone and pleaded for house arrest. The court ordered Thursday that he should remain in jail for two months.
