France Woos Business from UK with Tax Breaks and English

Wednesday, 06 July 2016 01:29 PM EDT

PARIS (AP) — French Prime Minister Manuel Valls is telling London-based businesses "come to France!" — and offering new tax breaks and international schooling to lure companies to Paris after Britain's vote to leave the European Union.

Valls on Wednesday proposed deeper tax discounts for office space, and income tax reductions for foreigners for their first eight years in France, instead of five years today.

He wants a "single entry point" in place by summer's end offering foreigners guidance on taxes, housing, visas, schools — "all those things that weigh heavily when it comes to choosing where to work or base your business."

He is pushing for more international programs in schools so that non-French children can learn in their native tongues.

Several cities have been vying for London business since Britain's vote.
