It’s been more than a year since blind human rights activist Chen Guangcheng made his daring escape from house arrest in China to safety in the American Embassy in Beijing, but Chen is no closer in his quest to improve the human rights situation in China than he was. British Prime Minister David Cameron is reportedly refusing to meet with him, and the Obama administration has made only the most tepid condemnations of China’s one-child policy and forced abortions. It appears that Chen's struggles, and the suffering his extended family is now enduring, have been for naught.
