LIGNET: Brotherhood Scored a Limited Victory

LIGNET — Mohammed Morsi's victory in Egypt ’s presidential election was considered a major win for the Muslim Brotherhood, but Morsi’s powers — and by extension the Muslim Brotherhood’s ­— will be seriously limited. According to France 24, the announcement of the election results was delayed, in fact, so that the ruling generals could persuade Morsi to accept the military’s dissolution of parliament before declaring him the winner. Morsi won’t be able to do much without the approval of the military, which will likely mean the turmoil in Egypt will continue — for months, and perhaps years.
