Harvard law professor and constitutional law expert Alan Dershowitz said Tuesday he hopes his nomination of Jared Kushner for a Nobel Peace Prize gets a "fair" evaluation that is free from political bias.
In an interview on Newsmax TV's "John Bachman Now," Dershowitz said he put in Kushner's name for his work in helping to create the normalization deals between Israel and Arab nations known as the Abraham Accords — and slammed the nomination of the racial justice movement Black Lives Matter.
"According to the will of Alfred Nobel, there are three criteria for winning the Peace Prize," Dershowitz said. "The Abraham Accords fits all of those. And yet Black Lives Matter has been nominated to win the Nobel prize. They don't fit any of the criteria."
Dershowitz lauded Kushner and his deputy Avi Berkowitz as key figures among many who helped bring about the Abraham Accords.
"Certainly they deserve it much more than [former President] Barack Obama, who was nominated 11 days after he got into the office," Dershowitz asserted, "having done nothing except" succeed former President George W. Bush and win "the presidency."
"According to the Nobel Peace committee, if you're not [Donald] Trump and you're not Bush you may deserve an award more than if you've done great things to bring about peace," he said.
"So let's hope the Nobel committee is fair. And if they're fair, I think [Kushner and Berkowitz] will be given serious consideration for the Nobel Peace Prize."
