LIGNET Exclusive: Al-Qaida Was Planning to Take Over an Entire Country

The evacuation of U.S. embassies across the Middle East in early August followed the interception of a conference call of more than 20 al-Qaida leaders, and LIGNET has now learned that terror leaders on that phone call were plotting to bring down one particular country on the Arabian Peninsula. If they had not been stopped, they would have gained a substantial foothold in the Middle East and a new base from which to wage their war on the West.
