LUXEMBOURG — Luxembourg’s Prime Minister Jean- Claude Juncker, who heads the group of euro-area finance ministers, travels to Russia next week for talks with President Vladimir Putin.
Juncker’s Sept. 24-27 visit includes a meeting with Putin in Moscow on Sept. 25, a Luxembourg government official said today on customary condition of anonymity. A detailed program of Juncker’s trip will be released closer to the date, the official said.
The Russian news agency Interfax reported today that Putin invited Juncker to visit Russia. The two leaders will discuss the crisis-fighting effort in the euro area and progress toward visa-free travel between Russia and the European Union, Interfax said, citing the Kremlin press service.
