German Denies Supplying Murder Weapon to Neo-Nazi Gang

Thursday, 17 December 2015 10:11 AM EST

BERLIN (AP) — A German man accused of helping a neo-Nazi gang carry out a string of murders has denied supplying the weapon allegedly used in nine of the killings.

German news agency dpa reported Wednesday that Ralf Wohlleben also told a Munich court he only learned of the existence of the so-called National Socialist Underground when two of its core members, Uwe Mundlos und Uwe Boehnhardt, were found dead in 2011.

The group killed eight Turkish men, a Greek and a policewoman between 2000 and 2007.

Wohlleben's testimony came a week after the third alleged core member of the NSU, Beate Zschaepe, told the court that she only learned of each of the slayings after they had taken place.
