Spanish police investigating the death of a soccer fan before an Atletico Madrid home match in the Spanish league said they arrested 32 more people.

The people were detained in Madrid, Avila and Toledo, a police official said by phone. He said he couldn't confirm a report by El Pais newspaper and other media that two people suspected of the murder were among them.

Francisco Romero, a 43-year-old supporter of Deportivo La Coruna, was killed in the Nov. 30 fight after being hit with a metal bar and thrown into a river.

The fight, involving dozens of fans, took place less than a mile from Atletico's stadium about four hours before the match. Police initially arrested 21 fans, who were released on bail and face public-disorder charges.
