George Zimmerman's dramatic rescue of a family from an overturned car just four days after his acquittal of murder in the death of Trayvon Martin is more proof he is a decent human being, according to his lawyer Mark O’Mara.
"George never took credit for any of it," O’Mara told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"I just wish people would look at this and say that this is the real George Zimmerman because this is so in line with everything else that we know about George.
"This is just who he is. It was the same George Zimmerman who was acquitted."
Zimmerman was driving past an intersection in Sanford, Florida — less than a mile from where Martin was killed — when he spotted an overturned SUV with a family of four trapped inside.
He pulled over, helped pull the victims out of the vehicle, made sure they were okay, and then drove on.
"[George] was just trying to relax a couple of days right after the acquittal and decide what to do," O’Mara said.
"It’s amazing that he’d just be driving down the road and see something like that happen," O’Mara said.
On July 13, a jury of six women acquitted Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer, in the shooting death of Martin, 17. He claims he killed Martin in self-defense after the teen attacked him.
Some observers believe Zimmerman, who is Hispanic, targeted Martin, a black youth.
But O’Mara believes Zimmerman's aid of a family in distress adds to the evidence that Martin’s death was not triggered by race.
"The reality is we can make believe that it's a racial event although every individual fact and every fact in sum suggests that George was not a person who acted with racial bias," he said.
"So then we look at the reality of the facts that did happen that night and it could have been any color skin on either of the two people … It had nothing to do with skin color."
O’Mara confirmed reports that Martin was not carrying iced tea on the night of his death, but rather a drink known as a "poor man’s ecstasy" — a fact that was not allowed to be brought into evidence at the trial.
"If you do a Google Search for 'Purple Lean' or 'lean drink' or 'lean drank' it is sort of an urban kind of drug. It's known in some circles as poor man's ecstasy or something like that," he said.
"The main ingredients are watermelon, Arizona watermelon juice, a hard candy … for sweetness, and then some type of either codeine tablets if you can get them or Coricidin D, Robitussin DM.
"It's an intoxicant and it's a fairly significant one."
O’Mara had mixed reactions to President Barack Obama’s discussion of race and the Zimmerman case last week.
"I didn’t like that he said '35 years ago, I could have been Trayvon' . . . But if you do listen to the whole 20 minutes of it, if what he's saying is let's talk, then I'm okay with that," O’Mara said.
