Prominent white nationalist Richard Spencer was punched in the face in Washington, D.C. while giving an interview.
Spencer was explaining to a bystander the meaning of a pin he was wearing on his lapel, Pepe the Frog, when he was punched on the right side of his face amid inauguration day protests and sometimes violent unrest in D.C.
Spencer later tweeted he was OK.
Spencer, an outspoken supporter of newly minted President Donald Trump, is the president of the National Policy Institute, a white nationalist group that defines itself this way:
"NPI is an independent organization dedicated to the heritage, identity, and future of people of European descent in the United States, and around the world," its website reads.
Though Spencer wasn't able to finish his explanation of the meaning of his Pepe the Frog pin, it has landed on the Anti-Defamation League's database of hate symbols.
