Paul Simon, Edie Brickell Arrested in Connecticut

Police in Connecticut say Paul Simon and his wife, Edie Brickell, have been arrested on disorderly conduct charges.

Simon, 72, called police about 8:20 p.m. after Brickell started an argument that got out of hand, sources told The New York Post.

“I got my feelings hurt and picked a fight with my husband. The police called it disorderly. Thank God it’s orderly now,” Brickell, 48, said in the statement released by her lawyer, Allen Cramer.

Simon and Brickell suffered “minor injuries” and that there was “aggressiveness on both sides,” said New Canaan Police Chief Leon Krolikowski.

Police originally got a 911 hang-up call, so police dispatched officers to their home, the chief explained.

“One party agreed to leave voluntarily and go to another location,” Krolikowski said.

“Frankly, they were both victims,” Krolikowski said. He said there had been a number of family disputes in the town recently because of hard economic times. New Canaan is one of the wealthiest zip codes in the United States.

“It concerns us. It’s good if people are calling us and asking us for help. We do want people to call us and ask us for help,” the chief said.

An arraignment in Norwalk Superior Court is expected Monday afternoon.

Simon's phone number is unlisted and his agent in Los Angeles did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

Simon is a 12-time Grammy winner and a member of The Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame — as half of the duo of Simon and Garfunkel and as a solo artist.

Brickell's "What I Am," recorded with her band the New Bohemians, was a hit in 1988.

The two were married in 1992.
