WASHINGTON (AP) — There may not be any tricks, but the first family is planning to give a group of children a big treat.
President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, will welcome local children and military families to celebrate Halloween at the White House Sunday evening.
Last year, the Obamas handed out M&Ms featuring the president's signature, butter cookies, dried fruit and activity books to more than 2,000 children while costumed characters fanned out across the North Lawn. Afterward the Obamas hosted a reception for military families in the East Room of the White House.
This year's event is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m.
