Twitter has temporarily suspended David Clarke, the outspoken former Milwaukee County Sheriff, for violating its "terms of service" with posts that appear to threaten the members of the media.
Clarke's Twitter account was locked and placed in a limited status, "read-only mode" after other social media posters complained about three tweets, which have since been deleted.
In one of the offending missives, CNN reports, Clarke raged: "When LYING LIB MEDIA makes up FAKE NEWS to smear me, the ANTIDOTE is to go right at them. Punch them in the nose & MAKE THEM TASTE THEIR OWN BLOOD.
"Nothing gets a bully like LYING LIB MEDIA"S attention better than to give them a taste of their own blood #neverbackdown."
The tweet was accompanied by a picture of President Donald Trump's face on the body of a wrestler kicking another wrestler tagged CNN.
Clarke, known for his conservative views and ten-gallon hats, resigned his sheriff's post in September to work with America First Action, a pro-Trump political action committee.
Last May, he announced he had accepted an assistant secretary position in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), but then rescinded the claim after the DHS contradicted such a hiring.
"Sheriff Clarke is 100 percent committed to the success of President Trump and believes his skills could be better utilized to promote the president's agenda in a more aggressive role," Craig Peterson, an adviser to Clarke, said at the time, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
