Real estate mogul and Mitt Romney supporter Donald Trump is urging Rick Santorum to bow out of the race for the Republican presidential nomination.
Trump has been using
his Twitter account during the past 24 hours to drop some not-very-subtle hints that now is the time for the former Pennsylvania senator to drop out.
“This is a great time for @RickSantorum to bow out with dignity,” Trump wrote Thursday.
In a longer Tweet the day before, Trump wrote, “RickSantorum has a limited window to exit the race and to keep both his integrity and reputation ... the time to do it is right now — before he loses Pennsylvania.”
Trump’s move makes him part of a growing chorus urging Santorum and other challengers to quit and clear the way for Romney to face off with President Barack Obama.
