The brother of George Floyd says a conversation with President Donald Trump turned out one-sided because he “didn't give me an opportunity to even speak.”

The family spoke to both Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden following Floyd's death while in police custody in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

"He didn't give me an opportunity to even speak," Philonise Floyd told MSNBC's Al Sharpton, adding the call was “so fast,” a video clip of the interview showed.

"It was hard. I was trying to talk to him, but he just kept, like, pushing me off, like 'I don't want to hear what you're talking about,’’” he said. "And I just told him, I want justice. I said that I couldn't believe that they committed a modern-day lynching in broad daylight. I don’t understand that. I’m never going to see my brother again,” he said before breaking down in tears.

Trump said Friday he’d spoken to the Floyd family, but didn’t elaborate on the conversation’s details.

”I want to express our nation's deepest condolences and most heartfelt sympathies to the family of George Floyd," Trump said during a roundtable event at the White House, CNN reported., later adding, "I spoke to members of the family — terrific people."

Floyd died on Memorial Day after being arrested, handcuffed, and then laid on the street, where Derek Chauvin kneeled on his neck for more than eight minutes. The officer was later charged with murder and manslaughter — and Floyd’s death sparked protests across the country.
