Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., on Tuesday urged the nation to move on from the Russia probe and said Democrats were suffering from "Trump Derangement Syndrome" because they cannot accept the fact President Donald Trump won the election.
"The investigation is over," McConnell stold Fox News' "The Story." "Why don't we turn our attention – trying to see what we can figure out what we can do together for the American people – and not squander any more time. We have the answer."
McConnell also called House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's, D-Calif., comment that Attorney General William Barr "lied to Congress," an "outrageous assertion."
"The man had a brief summary of the report, released all the report that was legally allowed to be released, put it on the Internet," McConnell said. "To call a public servant like the attorney general a liar is completely over the top. These people are somewhat suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome."
In an apparent reference to Barr's congressional testimony last month, Pelosi said he "was not telling the truth to the Congress of the United States – that's a crime."
Barr in April said he did not know whether special counsel Robert Mueller agreed with his conclusions about the Russia investigation, but Mueller had written Barr on March 27 complaining there was public confusion after the attorney general portrayed his findings.
