President Donald Trump will attend college football's national championship game in Atlanta next Monday, according to a new report.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Politically Georgia blog cited three sources as saying Trump and his wife Melania plan to watch the game in person as the guest of Nick Ayers, who serves as Vice President Mike Pence's chief of staff. Ayers is a Georgia native and his wife Jamie will also be at the game, the blog reported.
Georgia will take on Alabama in the game after they won Monday's Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl, respectively.
The game will take place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the home of the Atlanta Falcons.
Even without Trump's presence, the stadium would have had tight security because of the game's high-profile nature. Atlanta Police spokesman Carlos Campos told Politically Georgia his department is coordinating with the Secret Service to further bolster security.
