Title 42 Expiring April 1, Border Agents Told in Briefing

The Title 42 border policy under COVID-19 is going to expire April 1, according to Newsmax border correspondent Jaeson Jones.

The expiration date was shared with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents via a briefing Thursday, who were "surprised" by the announcement, sources told Jones.

"This is bad news, make no doubt," Jones told Thursday's "Prime News" with Jenn Pellegrino. "I mean they today, talking to them, they know exactly what this means – and this means a flood of people, and I want to be very clear on this – we're going to see massive number increases as a direct result, because this was a major tool in their toolbox."

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had invoked Title 42 of immigration law, permitting Border Patrol agents to expel undocumented migrants arriving by land from Mexico or Canada.

Title 42 permits expulsion of illegal migrants because of the dangers of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Biden administration had already last month excluded unaccompanied migrant children from the Title 42 orders for CBP agents.

"All of the single males and single females that you guys hear me talk about all the time that are operating between the ports of entry, running from border patrol, now they're just going to turn themselves in," Jones said. "That means on the ground, less agents to stop deadly fentanyl, high-value targets, and methamphetamine, weapons, and other things flowing in and out of our country."

Jones noted data that showed 1.2 million rapid deportations under Title 42 since February 2020, and now those numbers are going to be increased even higher as migrants now they will not be turned away by the Biden administration.

"This is a major trip wire what's happening right here," Jones said. "The Title 42 implementation has been the last tool in the toolbox for the men and women of U.S. Customs and Border Protection to hold the line against the waves of people crossing into our country.

"What that will do is send an invitation to the world between the alien smuggling organizations, the Mexican cartels, and then the long-haul smugglers that they will put out to everyone that, 'if you want to come to the United States, now is your time.'"
