Right-leaning rocker Ted Nugent has apologized for posting a bizarre graphic on Facebook that was condemned as anti-Semitic.
"Can I say oy vey? . . . Everyone knows deep down that at 67 years of age I didn't suddenly become anti-Semitic. That's patently ridiculous," Nugent said in a statement, according to
TheWrap.com.
Nugent, a gun-rights advocate, got in trouble when he posted photos of Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Chuck Schumer, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, civil-rights lawyer Alan Dershowitz and others — each beside an Israeli flag — saying they wanted to deny Americans the right to self-defense.
Bloomberg is dubbed, "Jew York City Mayor Mikey Bloomberg."
Nugent, whose hits include "Cat Scratch Fever" and "Journey to the Center of the Mind," insisted the graphic was a re-post.
"In my rush between songwriting jams and musical recording frenzy, all I saw was the images of people dedicated to disarm us, I made no connection whatsoever to any religious affiliation," Nugent told
MLive.com.
The Anti-Defamation League denounced Nugent's original missive as "nothing short of conspiratorial anti-Semitism."
