TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — A day after being released from the hospital, a Florida woman accused of killing her two teenage children is expected to appear in court.
Authorities in Tampa did not say Sunday why 50-year-old Julie Powers Schenecker spent two nights in the hospital.
They say she shot her 13-year-old son Beau in the head twice "for talking back" as they drove Thursday and shot her 16-year-old daughter Calyx in the face at home while she studied at a computer. Investigators believe the teens "never saw it coming."
Officers found Schenecker covered in blood Friday after her mother called police saying she was concerned.
Schenecker's husband, Parker Schenecker, is a career Army officer and was working in the Middle East when the shootings happened.
