Business journalist Suzy Welch tells Newsmax that President Barack Obama would be wise to employ the "10-10-10" life management tool she promotes in her new best-selling book.
Welch said she and her husband Jack Welch, former CEO of General Electric, are concerned about the future of America, but she holds out hope that the "American spirit" will ultimately prevail.
In her book "10-10-10: A Life-Transforming Idea," Suzy Welch — former editor of the Harvard Business Review — urges readers to consider the consequences of their decisions in 10 minutes, 10 months, and 10 years.

Newsmax.TV's Kathleen Walter asked Welch how the process works.
"10-10-10 on its face is a very simple decision-making approach," Welch said.
"You sort out all your options. You have a dilemma. You name the question. What am I deciding? Do I buy the house? Do I hold my child back? Do I stay in a relationship or leave? Do I hire or fire this particular individual?
"You define the question. You sort out all your options. Not just the expedient ones. Not just the obvious ones, but all the options. And then you consider the consequences of those options in 10 minutes, 10 months, and 10 years.
"And the final critical step, the step that takes 10-10-10 from being simple to really quite profound, is that you bring to bear your most deeply held authentic values. When you bring those two pieces of data together, the 10-10-10 solution will emerge."
Walter asked: "If you could personally advise a public figure through the 10-10-10 process, who would you choose?"
"I would choose Barack Obama," Welch responded.
"I think that there's a lot of political stuff going on right now that is all about the 10 minutes — or as politicians, two minutes, two months, two years when my next election is.
"And I am concerned about the America that we are creating — the 10-year picture, what is this country going to be."
Republicans have asserted that under Obama the U.S. deficit will already be approaching $9 trillion by the year 2016.
"Jack and I are Republicans and so we have got a different vision than the current people in power about what this country should be," said Welch.
"We are firm believers in capitalism and the power of the markets, and we're concerned. So I would ask the president to think about the 10-year America that we are creating."
Walter asked Welch, given the current state of the economy, how she would advise people to stay positive.
"There's always a tomorrow," Welch said.
"It is part of the human condition to think that we are in the worst of times. These are dreadful times. These are difficult times. And yet there's nothing that Americans have not overcome.
"I think if we keep on drawing on our sources of pride as Americans, our open-mindedness, our can-do spirit, and our creativity and entrepreneurship, if we connect with those parts of the American spirit, that tomorrow will arrive sooner rather than later."
