One "magic law" would not have stopped the school shooting in Florida, Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., said.
"If you think there’s some magic, unicorn law that’s going to stop it from happening, just keep in mind that he violated probably dozens of laws already, including murdering people. That’s against the law," Scalise said Thursday to Fox News host Laura Ingraham.
"So, you know, this idea that one magic law is going to stop the next one from happening, it’s not," Scalise said in the interview.
Scalise was a victim of a shooting in 2017 when a gunman opened fire at a Republican baseball practice.
A panel Friday morning on "Fox & Friends"weighed in on Scalise’s comments. "This is not just a law enforcement problem. It’s not just a school problem. This is a cultural problem," said Dr. Domenick Sportelli during the panel.
