Former Simpsons Writer Shares Old, Axed Script of Lionel Hutz

Former Simpsons Writer Shares Old, Axed Script of Lionel Hutz
Actor Phil Hartman (Lennox McLendon/AP)

A former Simpsons writer shared a never-before-seen story Monday from the "22 Short Films About Springfield" script featuring lawyer Lionel Hutz, Entertainment Weekly reports.

Hutz was a sketchy lawyer who was repeatedly hired by the Simpsons. Voiced by Phil Hartman, his character was retired after the actor's death.

"22 Short Films About Springfield," which first aired in 1996 during Season 7, took a look at the lives of the other Springfield residents. The scene on Hutz was cut from the episode, but Josh Weinstein tweeted out the script on his official Twitter page.

Hutz in the scene attempts to bribe a jury consisting of Marge's mother and Maud Flanders with flattery and a nice cake.

"Mr. Hutz, you're marvelous," Maude Flanders tells Hutz while eating birthday cake, to which Hutz replies, "Not half as marvelous as Mrs. Bouvier's big brown eyes."

The judge then walks in and asks Hutz what he is doing in the jury room in the middle of the trial.

Hutz leaves, but before he does turns to Bouvier and tells her, "I'll call you later – we'll have lunch."

The judge yells at Hutz, who retorts, "He yells, but he respects me a ton."
