When millions of people along the East Coast hunkered down for Hurricane Sandy, a liberal group used the occasion to email supporters in a bid to obtain a generator, according to Politico.
The Progressive Change Campaign Committee, which, according to its website, has “over 950,000 members nation-wide believe in fighting for bold progressive change,” emailed supporters to “help us make emergency arrangements and literally keep the lights on in our headquarters.”

The committee asked supporters: “Can you chip in $3 to keep our headquarters from powering down?”
The group, its website says, was founded in 2009 by MoveOn.org online organizer and Democratic party communications worker Adam Green and Stephanie Taylor, former MoveOn and SEIU organizer.
The email concluded, “By electing bold progressives, we’re generating power. And with your help, we’ll literally generate power these next few days.”
