A sarcastic Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., shot back at billionaire Leon Cooperman, who had complained about the term “fair share” when it comes to the wealthy paying taxes.
Cooperman, a hedge-fund pioneer, told CNBC on Thursday, that he viewed higher taxes as likely. But he was critical of Democrats for saying rich Americans must pay their “fair share.”
“I hate that expression with a passion,” Cooperman said. “This fair share is a bull**** concept. It’s just a way of attacking wealthy people, and I think it’s inappropriate. We’ve all got to work together and pull together.”
Sanders took to Twitter to respond.
He wrote: “Oh look, another billionaire is mad that he might have to pay more taxes while children in America go hungry and veterans sleep on the street. Cry me a river. Yes. We will make Wall Street billionaires pay their fair share of taxes and create an economy that works for all of us.”
Cooperman also said in the interview that he voted for Joe Biden in November, despite disagreeing with him on certain issue, including taxes.
