Former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani said Muslims need something like a Protestant Reformation or Catholic Counter-Reformation to weed out the radical elements of their faith.
White House Press Secretary
Josh Earnest on Tuesday said the Obama administration refuses to use the term "radical Islam" because the extremists who claim the faith are not true members.
But Guiliani disagreed, saying on the Fox News' show
"Hannity" that the verses cited by radical imams calling for death to non-Muslims are there.
"The words they're using come out of the book, the Koran," he said. "I have read the Koran three times. It comes out of the book."
He said those ideas should be put aside, much like modern Jews no longer stone people for committing adultery.
"That's in the Bible, but they don't do it. You got to forget it," he said.
