Karl Rove — under fire for his American Crossroads Super PAC group’s failed multimillion attempt to put Mitt Romney in the White House — is now taking a beating from the editor of a top conservative news service.
“Karl Rove’s not a conservative,’’ Terrence Jeffrey, editor-in-chief of CNS news, told Newsmax TV’s Steve Malzberg on Newsmax TV’s “The Steve Malzberg Show.’’
As Deputy Chief of Staff to George W. Bush, Rove “advanced things like the ‘No Child Left Behind Act,’ Medicare prescription drug plan, a foreign policy that was utopian and Wilsonian and wrongheaded, amnesty for illegal aliens and nominated Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court,’’ Jeffrey said.
“All of those things cannot be reconciled with conservative principles. I do not believe Karl Rove is a conservative.’’
Jeffrey is also bristling over an aide to Rove who he says referred to Brent Bozell, founder of CNS News and the Media Research Center, as a hate monger.
“[Rove] says that [Richard] Mourdock can’t be a Senate candidate because he wanted to defend the right to life of innocent, unborn children yet his organization has his guys calling a great man like Brent Bozell a hater?’’ Jeffery said.
“That’s highly ironic to say the least.’’
