Roseanne Barr will play herself, a supporter of President Donald Trump, in a revival of her old sitcom that starts airing in March — and said Trump is in office because Americans needed a change.
"I have always . . . attempted to portray a realistic portrait of the American people and working-class people – and, in fact, it was working-class people that elected Trump, so I felt that was very real and something that needed to be discussed," Barr said Monday, according to Fox News.
Regarding the 2016 election result, Barr said, "I think it was time for us, as a country, to shake things up and try something different."
The eight-episode "Roseanne" revival sitcom will debut March 27 on ABC. Barr will play a Trump supporter. The show, according to executive producer Bruce Helford, will feature opposing political views.
Barr admitted Trump "says a lot of crazy [expletive], but I mean . . . I'm not a Trump apologist. There are a lot of things he has said and done that I don't agree with."
Barr ran for president in 2012 as the Peace and Freedom Party candidate. In 2016, she voted for Trump.
